If you’re a Harry Potter fan (and let’s face it, who isn’t?) then you’re probably keenly awaiting the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. If you’re not a fan, well this post might still interest you if your looking for places to AVOID tomorrow.
A lot of people would probably have pre-ordered Cursed Child. But if you haven’t, don’t worry as it’s going to be available everywhere, and I mean EVERYWHERE.
So you’re probably not wondering WHERE you can get a copy, because it’s hard to imaging a book or department store in Australia that’s NOT socking Cursed Child. But there’s a good chance you’re looking around for the best price (it’s RRP is a whofty $45). You might also be interested in store that are doing special events to celebrate the release. Well, I’ve used my magic to compile a list for you.
For one day only (Sunday 31st July) Big W will be selling Cursed Child for only $15! Yep, that’s right! You can save a whooping $30 if you purchase it in store tomorrow. If you can’t make it into a store tomorrow, don’t dispare, as from Monday on-wards their every day price will still be the cheapest at only $20. Seriously, are they even making any profit on this?
Other brick and mortar store prices:
Target – advertised in their latest catalogue, but price not listed
Online only stores (you’ll have to wait a while for delivery):
Booktopia $29.99 (flat rate $6.95 postage
The Book Depository $24.99 (includes free delivery)
HEAPS of bookstores are having events/launch parties for the release of Cursed Child, so it’s probably best to check out what’s happening at those near you, but some stores that are having an event include:
Dymocks Melbourne (from what I’ve found so far, this one looks like the best!) – includes prizes, photo booth, scavenger hunt, colouring-in comp, table quidditch etc.
Dymocks Adelaide – store opening early & people encouraged to dress up
Dymocks Sydney – includes raffles, prizes (assuming all ages…) and goodie bags for the first 20 kids to line up (boooo! include the adults!)
…actually many Dymocks seem to be doing something.
Collins Booksellers Bacchus Marsh – includes two prizes up for grabs.
Readings Carlton – includes champagne and non-alcoholic drinks
Trollwood, Flinders St Market (Adelaide)
QBD Mt Druitt – prizes to be won
plus, many, many, many more – I would be hear for ever writing them all up!
Plus, most booksellers are also having a sale on all their other Harry Potter themed books, so if you need another novel, colouring-in book etc. tomorrow a good time to get it at a discounted rate!
